The Old Dairy is a beautifully restored one-bedroom cottage, thoughtfully converted from a centuries-old dairy and set within the charming Victorian village of Gainford.
Designed for romantic escapes, it offers five-star luxury while retaining a wealth of original character and historic features.
Guests are welcomed with a thoughtful arrival gift and all essential provisions to make your stay effortless.
The cottage is fully stocked with cooking basics such as oil, salt and tea bags, along with coffee for the Nespresso machine, washing-up liquid, toilet roll and kitchen roll.
Modern comforts are seamlessly integrated, including WiFi, Netflix, Alexa and Spotify, and with a welcoming village pub just a short stroll away, everything you need for a relaxed and memorable stay is close at hand.
The living room is designed for cosy evenings in, featuring a large sofa alongside a cuddle chair, perfect for relaxing by the fire, enjoying a good book or unwinding with your favourite drink.
Leading from the living area, the kitchen is fully equipped with everything required for a comfortable stay, including an oven and microwave. A handcrafted dining table made from reclaimed wood comfortably seats four guests, adding character and charm to the space.
Also located on the ground floor is a characterful shower room, featuring a walk-in shower, toilet, a quirky sink and beautiful original stone walls.
The master bedroom is accessed via a solid wood staircase and offers a truly indulgent retreat, complete with a four-poster bed and a stunning double-ended Victoria + Albert roll-top bath with traditional fittings.
A separate toilet and sink are conveniently located just off the bedroom.
Throughout your stay, fresh towels, quality bedding and dressing gowns are provided, along with a welcome basket to help you settle in and relax from the moment you arrive.
The kitchen opens out onto a private, enclosed yard offering seclusion from neighbouring properties.
Here, you’ll find a bistro set for alfresco dining, a chiminea, and a wood-fired hot tub designed for two.
The hot tub heats and fills ready for use within approximately one hour. Should you prefer not to include the hot tub during your stay, simply let us know and we can offer a discounted rate.

To the rear of the cottage, a private enclosed yard provides a secluded space to unwind, complete with a wood-fired hot tub. Inside, the bedroom is a true highlight, featuring a stunning four-poster bed and a double-ended roll-top bath, creating a truly indulgent retreat.
The cottage also benefits from a fully equipped kitchen and a cosy living room with a log burner and exposed beams, delivering an authentic country cottage atmosphere.

We have had a lovely stay, the cottage is lovable in every way! It has unique features which make it very homely and cosy. Everything is well set out and really clean. We couldn’t ask for any more!! The hot tub was an added extra which is definitely worth it. The garden is enclosed and private making every experience your own. Would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of booking!! 🖤
